He ruled Judge Miller’s place and accompanied Judge Miller, his kids, and grandkids. There were other dogs on the property, save Buck didn’t care for them, and so he unspoilt ignored them because he knew he was a better dog. He respected his owner, but never loved him.
Then one day everything changed when Buck was kidnapped by Manuel, the gardener’s helper, and shipped to Seattle, Washington. It was in that respect in Washington that Buck’s journey started. When in Washington Buck encountered the man in the red sweater. Buck was furious the whole ride to Seattle and when they let him out he raged with anger. When Buck was released from his cage he launched at the man in the red sweater and the man whacked him with a club. The more Buck attacked the harder he got whipped and the madder Buck got. That was the first season Buck got beaten and the day he learned he could never beat a man with a club. Buck also learned his place and who and what to leave alone.
