The use of sounds assists the earshot get a real feel of the environment. In the opening of the movie many different types of sounds are played as a foundation for what will go on later in the movie. For representative we hear the uniform music of the murder scene and the getaway scene of Marion as we do when the scenes actually take place.
Some examples of musical grain are used in the film and they include polyphony, monophony, unify, and icon. Hitchcock uses the blend of instruments such as the violin, cello, and viola and has them play in squeaking tones in monophony ultimately playing in harmony. In a polyphonic example when the motorcar is plunged into the swamp in parts of the movie that are full of energy and tension. For range we hear the low notes of the string instruments and high pitched.
