The Duchess is an inspirational film, allowing the viewers to peer into the enigmatical world of royalty hundreds of years ago. Based on a true story, it embodies love, lust, hurt, change and hope in several varied events. Taking a look at the actual chronicle of which this picture show is based on, it allows us to compare, contrast and understand the serial publication of events more clearly.

Even as a young girl, the future Duchess of Devonshire excelled in literature, politics and helping her mother plan large cordial events. Georgiana and her husband shared very, very few interests which strained their married couple as did several miscarriages. She in real life, as in the movie mothered an illegitimate child with her secret lover Charles Grey, which she maintained a secret relationship with throughout her life. Also corporal in the film was her unique and unassailable sense of fashion. It was verbalise that the Duchess set British style with her extravagant hair, gowns and hats. Although a strong influence both socially and politically, Georgiana did love to gamble, which was portrayed curtly in the film.
In her life, both her parents and her husband disapproved of her extensive play and refused to pay her debt which had accumulated to a large sum in the first place her death.
Through research on the historical accuracy of this film, I found that only minor details were inaccurate or poorly portrayed. For example, many articles state that Charles Grey was poorly represented. It give tongue to that the Grey family was less in debt than the the Cavendish family, and came from the family lineage of Shakespeare himself; while in the movie, Grey was asking the Duke for money to sponsor his campaign.
