The history of women in football game

Womens football in England was pioneered by a woman named Nettie Honeyball. She, in 1894, established the British Ladies Football Club which Lady Florence Dixie, a novelist and committed womens rightist became president of. The British Ladies Football Club was made up of ab divulge 30 young women who Honeyball persuaded to join by pose up an advertisement in the press. The women trained twice a week at a park in Hornsey. They were coached by J.W. Julian, a Tottenham Hotspur player who Honeyball persuaded to coach the aggroup.

23rd March 1895 was when the foremost official womens football match was played at Crouch End in London. The women were put into teams which represented North London and South London. Honeyball played for the North London team which beat South 7-1. At first when the club went out to play games around England to raise money for medical charities, thousands of concourse mostly men - would come to watch but consequently as time went by less people morose up to watch the women play. Until eventually, Honeyball and Lady Dixies endeavor of making womens football popular came to an end.
