SS310: Exploring the 1960s: An Interdisciplinary Approach

I am an American. I am also Hispanic and Italian. Currently, I am pursuing a college degree in computing machine Information Security with the eccentricual goal of becoming a Security Analyst or working in the applied science field. Although I do non feel discriminated against most of the time, it has not always been so. Pejoratively Mexicans have been said to be stupid, lazy, and thugs. Although fall in States citizens, they have always been viewed as some sort of immigrants or outsiders. When discrimination is mentioned, everyone thinks of Blacks, Gays and lesbians, and even women. Yet, the discrimination is just as touchable to my people as to any other group. Since I am 25 years old, the decade of the 1960s is only something I can read about or watch events and comments on video.
I know it was the time of the Vietnam War, hippies, JFK, the Cuban Missal Crisis, the space take to the woods and much more. But, personally, I believe that one particular event from that time has affect my support and my education. That event was the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.




The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was an incredible, sweeping piece of canon which was passed during the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson. It assured voting rights by prohibiting registrars from applying different standards for nonage and White voter applicants but it was much more than that, and beca utilize of it my life is profoundly different than it might have been. This law do it a federal crime to discriminate in the use of public accommodations and public facilities; and authorized the federal government to leave alone assistance to all school districts involved in desegregation.
