I have chosen to write this essay on Education and Care Centres which is a Teacher-led service. The three quality indicators I will reflect on are bi heathenism, trained horse barn staff and consistent care giving and thirdly alliance with parents, family/whanau. I believe that these three quality indicators in earliest childhood education are measurable to my soulfulnessal determine and beliefs when choosing a childcare service. The Early Childhood Centre of my option should have an understanding of M?ori views on child learning and the role of the family/Whanau, as well as understanding the views of early(a) cultures in the community. I feel that all children should be habituated the opportunity to experience and understand the cultural heritages of Maori as virgin Zealand is the home of M?ori language and culture (Ministry of Education *MoE+, 2010) indeed it is important for educators to understand and be willing to discuss bicultural issues, and allow Maori in decision making to ensure Maori children develop a strong sense of self-confidence. As a Maori choosing a childcare service I would specifically require that service to be bicultural. Teachers should acknowledge and have a concern for how the past, present and approaching influences childrens self-esteem and are of prime importance to M?ori families.

Adults should recognise the important place of spirituality in the schooling of the whole child, particularly for Maori families. On the ministry of education website it states that curriculum in early childhood settings should promote te reo and nga tikanga Maori, making them glaring and affirming their value for children from all cultural backgrounds. For children to develop positively in that respect needs to be a close relationship amid home and day-care/school regarding language and culture. I believe that it is important for teachers to understand that they are not experts in a persons culture if they do not share that cultural background e.g. non-Maori should not...
